Playwright, Poet, and Creator of Images of Nineteenth Century American Woman
Address: 195 Knight Street, Providence, RI 02909

Areas of Expertise: The material I present is based on the lives of a number of Nineteenth Century American Women. Included are Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Clara Barton, Julia Ward Howe and Anne Frances Kelly (a member of the Rhea County All Girl Spartans, the only female cavalry unit to serve the Confederacy (unofficially) during the war between the states.) I also touch on Dorothea Dix, Sarah Doyle, Theodosia Burr Alston and Alice of the Hermitage. There is a classroom workshop unit available if circumstances warrant. The program is accompanied by an exhibition of original portraiture, created especially for this presentation, of at lease six of the women.
This program is suitable for students 13 and up as well as adults. It needs minimal staging and can be done at a widespread variety of venues. In addition, I provide reproducible, customized, artwork for posters and flyers.
Please note, my full length play (with music) "In The Footsteps of Moses; the story of Harriet Tubman" was produced this spring by Animated Theaterworks, Inc., at the Chernuchin Theatre in New York. I am the winner of the coveted New England Theatre Conference Best Director Award for The Seahorse, a production which also received the Best Play, Best Actor, and Best Actress Awards.
Geographic Range: I am available, year round, to travel to most locations.
Fee Range: $750 plus expenses per program. (Can be negotiated if multiple presentations are involved.) My classroom workshops are half day events and may be presented in two different classrooms (same location) at $1,000 plus expenses.

When I created the film, " Mother's Day ", the story of my mother who had been battered for decades by my father, I wanted to give voice to the silencing and suffering my mother had endured. It is the first film in a trilogy chronicling the life of my family, in Illinois, torn apart by beatings and substance abuse. While the first film focuses on my mother'slife and why she remained in an abusive relationship, the sequel, " Chicken Row" chronicles my father's early life. The trilogy will be completed with a film about myself, the only child who lived through my parents tragic marriage. I am a professor who teaches and presents in my areas of expertise and including showing the videos and facilitating discussions of them.
Geographic Range: U.S. and outside U.S.
Fee Range: All expenses and negotiable fee between $500. - $1,000. For community based and not for profit agencies these fees are negotiable.
