| Established in 1998, the Green Tara Sangha offers both the beginning and experienced student an
opportunity for Zen practice, Buddhist study and fellowship with others interested in the practice of
Dhyana meditation.
The Sangha is sanctioned by Roshi Junpo Kando Denis Kelly, former Vice Abbot at Dai Bosatsu Monastery
in New York. Junpo is Dharma Heir to Eido Shimano Roshi, of the Rinzai shu of Zen Buddhism.
Junpo comes to Green Bay in the Spring & Fall to lead a Zen & Yoga Retreat. The retreat offers Zen
practitioners an opportunity for more intensive practice, the experience of essential silence and private
meetings with Junpo to explore the depth of one's practice and understanding.
Members and friends of the Green Tara Sangha now come from throughout Wisconsin and from out of state.
The Sangha has four regular sites for group practice and study; Green Bay, Appleton, Jacksonport &
Woodruff Wisconsin.
In addition to the regular sitting schedule and the two five-day retreats, Sangha locations offer
Buddhist study opportunity, half-day sits and others forms of practice and education throughout the
year.
Some members of the Sangha have taken Buddhist precepts in the Jukai ceremony, declaring their formal
intention as students of Junpo and a commitment to practice. |
